History of IASAR
Message from the President

A unique opportunity has come down the path of this Hoosier State. A group of volunteers have chosen to serve our country, our state and our community by participating in forming the first Indiana Air Search and Rescue Squadron.  Three phases help describe our efforts and progress for our non-profit organization.

Phase 1: Over a 5 year period, we have acquired and have completely & lovingly restored a Vietnam era UH-1H aircraft, better known as the Huey.
We have already witnessed and determined that our UH-1H Helicopter has been an instrument of healing for Vietnam and Gulf War Vets.  Many of our crew are Veterans who have shared their extensive knowledge with us.

Phase 2:  Testing and flying the helicopter to meet strict requirements, practicing safety procedures, aircrew training, emergency procedure training, First Responder Training, etc...are just some of the components of Phase 2.
IASAR will also participate in fly-ins to surrounding schools to help educate our children and young adults on the important roles our war bird played in the history of this great country. In addition, we will raise awareness of our organization by participating in air shows, special military events, Veteran's gatherings and community events

Phase 3:  The good Lord willing, this will only be our first instrument of air relief, as we plan on expanding our air fleet to meet the needs of search & rescue and disaster relief in of country, our great State of Indiana, and our local community.

As the founder and chief pilot, I am proud to be a part of an all volunteer organization that will be protecting, serving and educating the people of our nation, this state and the City of Indianapolis and her surrounding cities and counties.

God Bless,
